Welcome!

My name is Taylor, and I am a passionate and dedicated interdisciplinary researcher studying the criminal legal system, race, and policies.

Currently, I am a 4th year doctoral candidate in Social Welfare at the University of California at Los Angeles. My research focuses on the collateral consequences of incarceration for Black young adults, particularly how policies influence their re-entry experience from a life-course perspective. This includes studying the socioeconomic environment in which criminal legal system-impacted Black young adults were raised. I employ a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods to examine the re-entry experiences of this group, allowing me to address a diverse range of questions. I hope that my work will allow for policy makers, researchers, and stakeholders to comprehensively understand how the carceral system extends deeply into the lives of Black individuals. Furthermore, I would like to identify vulnerable areas that can serve as intervention points to help mitigate recidivism rates and the likelihood of incarceration. In my work I would like to determine how to design and scale up effective policies that address the challenges of reentry by equipping Black young adults and the broader Black community with the necessary tools to meet their needs.
